Goodbye to summer heat (we hope)
By: Dan Ward
The forecast for the next few days is for the 80s, with 70s close behind.
This has been a weird year for heat around here, as it has for everybody else in the country, it seems. The North Carolina mountains normally average one day in the 90s per year. We packed two decades' worth into July alone this summer. We need the respite, and so do our guests.
So if you're still looking at 90-100 degree highs where you live, consider coming here for some cooler temps. And if you want to take a day trip to Mt. Mitchell, bring a sweatshirt. It's at least 15 degrees cooler up there.
